Business & Technology

Ian is an innovative entrepreneur who connects strategic leaders to see positive influence and transformation. His key focus is understanding people and how they behave in groups. Over the years he has founded and grown a number of online networks and organisations.

Today Ian leads several digital projects spanning business development, community building and social networking. A trained teacher and technology graduate, he has been involved in education and training since 1990, and first began working with Internet and multimedia learning technologies in 1995 — giving him a rare, long view of how digital tools reshape the way people learn, connect and lead.

That experience shapes how Ian works with organisations today: helping leaders build a digital strategy that lasts, navigate change and new technology such as AI, and grow engaged communities online as well as in person. Whether he is coaching a founder, advising a board, or building a network from scratch, the same question runs through it all — how do we help people flourish together?

Civic & Community

In March 2019, Ian was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, a Crown appointment, working alongside the Lord Lieutenant across the region. This representation helps maintain the connection between the Crown and local communities, reinforcing the ceremonial and symbolic role of the Monarchy within the region.

Ian is a volunteer Public Leadership Ambassador for the Evangelical Alliance, and actively supports the development of public leadership events, leadership networks, and unity focused projects across the UK. For over 20 years, Ian & Alyson have been responsible for pioneering and growing One Heart One Voice, a unity movement of church leaders based in and around Doncaster, South Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom. They currently lead The Catalyst Network which promotes unity & togetherness across all leadership settings within localities.

Education & Training

Ian is a trained teacher and graduate in technology. He has been involved in education and training since 1990 and his roles have included, Teacher of Design & Technology and ICT, Head of Student Services, Head of Marketing and Director of Information Learning Technology. Ian first started working with Internet and Multimedia Learning Technologies in 1995.

He has experience in managing IT strategy as well as skills in developing and supporting on-line learning, mentoring and assessment. He has also acted as an examiner for both GCSE and Advanced Level subjects. He has worked for AQA, OCR, and WJEC and is a Fellow of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (ITOL).

Faith & Family

In 1999, Ian & Alyson established The Jubilee Trust to help bridge the gap between faith and everyday life. They both have a vision to see people develop a meaningful and authentic faith in every sphere of their lives, and are passionate about churches and church leaders working together.

Ian is a Trustee of The William Temple Foundation, the Foundation seeks to connect Christian social concerns to the realities of the world, by generating and exploring ideas about the impact of religion on civil society, wellbeing, politics, economics, and urban change.

Ian is a UK Board Member of Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries, providing resources that meaningfully engage the topics of faith and mental health. Sanctuary Mental Health resources prepare communities of faith around the world to raise awareness, reduce stigma, support mental health, and promote mental wellbeing.

Ian & Alyson live and work in the north of England directing a number of businesses and Christian ministries. They have three grown-up children and six grandchildren.
